Jonathan Thompson

Director, marketing and public relations, Newseum

If Jonathan weren’t the director of public relations at the Newseum, he would want to be an astrophysicist. Fortunately, his elementary grasp of basic arithmetic keeps him grounded. At the Newseum, Jonathan leads a talented team responsible for executing the organization’s strategic communications objectives, media plans and publicity campaigns that promote exhibits and support the museum’s mission to champion free expression and the First Amendment. He serves on the boards of the PR and Marketing committee of the American Alliance of Museums and the Travel and Tourism board of the Public Relations Society of America. When he’s not working, Jonathan is conjuring entries for the New Yorker magazine cartoon caption contest, which he has yet to win despite an embarrassing number of submissions.
